My fear is that rather than focusing on things you can control (conversation skills, brushing up your resume, getting recs in order, rush wardrobe, grooming) you are looking for something that quite frankly, you are going to have very little control over at all.

Its hard to generalize about a sororitys reputation nationwide; there are many differences from campus to campus. In fact, you shouldnt even be tiering sororities, because that shouldnt matter. There is normally a 6-8 week new member period when you can assess whether you want to commit. They actually drop out of recruitment than pledge a bottom tier sorority, like kappa Kappa Gamma or DZ. Chi O is probably the most well-known sorority, especially in the South, and is a top-tier at many of those schools, not nationally. As for Chi O, yeah they were founded here, but they are the rudest girls. That was just a matter of numbers because chapters can only take so many girls. Not one person do I hear that they hate pi Phis. Now their National name is Kappa Kappa Gramma. Theyre actually much more attractive than KD and ADPi. I dont know much about the rest. If you pledge a sorority and then aren't sure it's right for you, make your decision before the initiation process. Kappa did very well. ,Greek life at UT has been wonderful for my daughter, but she had to go in with an open mind and keep it. They have heavier girls in their sorority and would completely humiliate their pledges by making them strip down in front of their brother frat to circle 'prob' areas in a sharpie. Thats what we call panhellenic spirit, which this website clearly lacks!!!! To ALL of the sororitys we are great people and DONT let a random website tell u what u are not!! Also, I know several Kappa Kappa Gamma's from other schools, and boy are you right about them! This can switch from school to school, but you did get the reps right, except for KD. One of the "top" sororities in this write-up just had to shut down their chapter, and one of the "mid-tier" sororities has so many top women that it's almost embarrassing to the other sororities on campus. ,UT rush is incredibly competitive due to the high number of legacies and in state students who already have connections with the chapters, plus the number of PNMs who only seem to want one of six chapters. Id say theyre all relatively equal now. Delta Gamma: Ten years ago they were a lot stronger of a house than they are now. I'm rushing KD in the fall.
